Happy Thanksgiving!! :)
by Joy-Seeker on Nov.24, 2010, under good/positive
I’m feeling so much love and appreciation this morning that a part of me feels as if it is bursting at the seams. It doesn’t matter that I’m still “fighting” a head cold and that my nose is raw from all the blowing…this too shall pass and each day I see a little more light at the end of the tunnel.
This morning I’m feeling closer to my “next logical step” and all these ideas and solutions are just flooding in. I’m feeling so “in the Vortex” as Abraham calls it, and milking this feeling for all its worth!
Since I’m a vegetarian, and not much into the traditional Thanksgiving meal/foods, today is more about feeling appreciation for my life. It hasn’t always been the case, but this year it feels different…especially since I just came back from Thailand and I’m still full of happy memories.
The rest of the post will be what I’m appreciating (not in any particular order)…
- My body: my eyes, ears, nose, mouth, skin, arms/fingers, legs/toes, organs, the cells – basically everything that helps me experience this “physical reality”
- I appreciate where I live – country, state, county, city, neighborhood, house
- my bedroom – my comfortable bed, warm sheets and blankets, my pillows, a carpet under my feet
- clothes, shoes, jackets/coats, hats/gloves
- hot/cold running water, indoor toilet, sinks, electricity, air conditioning/heater, refrigerator, stove
- learning how to cook Thai food, finding an Asian market with the ingredients I need
- my family – mom, 2 dads, sisters (blood related and non-blood related), nieces, nephew, cousins
- my friends
- my computers, software, internet connection
- my digital camera
- restaurants, grocery stores, food
Wishing you all a very Happy Thanksgiving!

It’s my birthday and I’ll laugh if I want to…

Happy birthday to me,
I’m timeless and free,
I may be turning fifty,
but I feel like I’m three!!Joy-Seeker
That’s the little ditty that’s been playing in my head for about a week now, but today is the day. I want to thank all of my family and friends who contributed to my Kindle…the dream has become a reality and I absolutely love it. I’ll have to get someone to take a picture of me with my new “toy” and then I’ll post it below.
Today, like most days, I started out by laughing with my favorite little boy and his toy tiger…none other than Calvin and Hobbes. Today’s strip had me laughing pretty good, so I’ll share it here:
If I would have had kids, I think I would have wanted a little Calvin…he sure would have kept me on my toes, and laughing pretty hard when he wasn’t around to see me.
I also saw a couple of videos from one of my favorite comics, John Pinette. If you’ve never heard of him, check him out on youtube. If you know of him, you know how funny he is/can be.
The other thing(s) that made me laugh today were the birthday cards I received…OMG, where did you people find these great cards??? I think I’ll re-read all of them before going off to sleep. And with that I’ll sign off for today, but before I do, find one thing every day that will make you laugh and learn to enjoy life.
Childhood joy (at almost 50)
by Joy-Seeker on Aug.21, 2010, under good/positive
Remember way back when you were a child and you felt that joy rushing through your body? That feeling that made your heart feel like it would leap out of your chest? I got to have that feeling again, today. I went to the Wings over Camarillo airshow today and I felt like I was around 5-years-old. I had a blast taking pictures of the airplanes doing their aerobatic maneuvers, hearing the sounds of their engines and seeing the smoke…well, that had me hootin’ and a hollerin’. I also got to meet two cool women who were parked in the same area as myself and we had a grand old time talking and enjoying the flying. I posted one of the photos I took on the photo blog and in the “funzone” (if you like to do jigsaw puzzles).
That’s the feeling I want to feel every day…even if it’s only for an hour or two, I’d prefer to feel it the whole day, but I’ll take what I can allow. Notice I didn’t say get? That’s because in every moment I get to choose how I want to feel despite circumstances or whatever is going on around me.
Tomorrow is going to be another joyful day as I’ll be celebrating my birthday and my sisters (born on the same day but 2 years apart) with the family at our favorite park. This park has become a special place to us and we love this tree that we meet under. I definitely plan on acting like a kid and don’t “give a rip” what anyone thinks about that.
Well that’s it for today. Keep your sunny side up
Affirmations and feeling good
by Joy-Seeker on Aug.20, 2010, under good/positive
This is one of my favorite videos, but I had forgotten all about it until today…I logged onto facebook and one of my friends wrote on her blog about feeling all mushy (mooshy), I clicked on the link to read her post and was rewarded with the above video.
There’s something uplifting about watching this little girl; it almost makes me want to get up on my vanity and mimic her. When you’re in that good feeling place, affirmations/talking about the things you appreciate come easy. When you’re not doing so good, it can be pretty hard to find something positive to get the ball rolling, so to speak. As a student of Abraham-Hicks , I’ve learned that all you have to do is start with something that feels a little better than where you are right now. Sometimes it’s easiest to start with the most simple thing that you appreciate/are thankful for…that the sun came up today…that you’re breathing (or that you don’t have to think about remembering to breathe)…you have a roof over your head (or you have a beautiful view of the sky over your head). Before you know it, you’re on a “rampage of appreciation” and feeling better and better.
When I was at amazon.com the other day and adding to my wish list, I noticed that based on my list they had certain items they thought I’d be interested in…usually I just ignore the advise, but for some reason I looked and saw the recommendation for Frequency: The Power of Personal Vibration by Penney Peirce (read this review first) and had them send a sample of the book to my Kindle for PC software. I got to within 2 pages from the end of the sample and decided it was something I wanted to read and I purchased it. I like what she has done at the end of each chapter, and part of why I’m “stuck” at the end of the first chapter…she has things to ponder/questions to answer that you write in a journal. Well, I have the Journal part (software)…I just haven’t made time to answer the questions.
So, after reading the first chapter, can I recommend this book? I’d say that if you’re new to wanting to feel happy/raising your vibration, or “frequency”, then the answer is yes. If you’re an Abraham-Hicks student/follower I’d say no…at least for now. Let me read a few more chapters and I’ll add an addendum to this page.

Inspiration
by Joy-Seeker on Aug.14, 2010, under good/positive
If you were to listen, or read, anything from mainstream media you would think that the kids today are fill in the blank. Lucky for me I don’t (usually) listen to or read those with negative attitudes.
Today I found two…count them, 2 stories of inspirational boys; one is seven-year-old Kieron Williamson who is an internationally known artist…at 7!! The other is a 17-year-old student in McKinney, Texas and he started The Secret Drawer Society at his school.
I found out about Kieron in today’s Calendar section of the L.A. Times. It was exciting reading about his success as an artist and how much money his paintings bring in; I also think it’s cute that they call him “Mini Monet”.
I found out about the other one on Secret Agent L’s blog in a post titled “MISSION: Inspirational Affiliated Agent-in-the-Making”. His letter made me cry, it was so touching. I hope you take the time to read his letter to Secret Agent L and/or visit their Facebook page.
My town
by Joy-Seeker on Aug.13, 2010, under good/positive
After walking the dogs this morning, I sat down to eat breakfast and look at the local paper. I love my neighborhood and the town I live in and see only good things, so it took me by surprise as I glanced over each page and saw nothing but negative news. Outside of one small blurb, in the sports section, about a local 12-year-old skateboarder who is now in the Guinness Book of World Records, I FINALLY found something positive on page 17! There was a large/long article in the “Faith” section. I’m not a “religious” person but I do consider myself a “spiritual” person, so normally I would have just skipped over that, but the headline caught my attention…”The ‘yes’ Factor.
The article started out with a quote from Thomas Edison:
“I have not failed 1,000 times. I have successfully discovered 1,000 ways to not make a light bulb.”
— Thomas Edison
So that got my attention…and the article was a good read. There are quite a few people I would like to share it with, so I am going to “Block Quote” the article here and then add a link to the original site for the paper. (continue reading…)
Always look on the bright side of life…

(add whistling to the end of the post title) Thank you Monty Python!!
That’s exactly what this blog is going to be turned into. I’ll be moving the travel part to another blog and this one is going to live up to the tag line – “Only looking for things that make me feel good”.
This morning, I set my intention to find something good in today’s L.A. Times – something I don’t even look at, except for the ads. I decided the Calendar section was the best place to start. I found a nice article on the upcoming Eat Pray Love movie, but it was the small section on page 3 that got my attention: “Have a happy weekend at the Feel Good Film Festival” – it was short and sweet…exactly 2 paragraphs!
If you’d like to find out more about the Feel Good Film Festival, here is the link.
Kindle update
by Joy-Seeker on Aug.12, 2010, under Uncategorized
No sooner had Amazon lowered the price on the Kindle 2 to $189, now they’ve come out with the latest generation and 2 priced models…Wi-Fi only for $139 and Wi-Fi + 3G for $189. Granted they don’t start shipping until Aug. 27th (if you pre-order now it won’t be until Sept. as they’re all sold out), but for those of us who love to travel, this is a great time to pick one up and some tour guides and/or language books, plus some leisure reading material.
My upcoming birthday wish list is for the Kindle DX, the 9.7 inch screen will be easier to see/read.
